My grandmother, Roberta, was a native North Carolinian, born in a town called Pleasant Garden. She made southern buttermilk biscuits from scratch every day when my dad was growing up. One of my favorite memories as a kid was eating her biscuits at family get togethers. I could have passed on the Thanksgiving turkey or the chocolate cake as long as I got a couple handfuls of her biscuits!
Two generations later, we now get to share her kitchen with you through her beloved homemade Bertie's Buttermilk Biscuits. As has been true for us, we hope these biscuits can be a small, but memorable part of bringing your family together around the table. Enjoy!
Baking Instructions
- Store frozen until ready to bake - Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees - Bake directly from frozen for 12-15 minutes (oven times may vary) - Serve hot and enjoy!
They are delicious by themselves, but also pair wonderfully with butter and sea salt flakes, jam, honey, pepper jelly, country ham, gravy, egg, or your own favorite addition.
